A Little Boy A Little Canvas

Hi everyone. Brrrr aren't the mornings chilly now! I have finally finished working full time for Sue (hope Canada was fabo hun) and I am back to my regular stuff (YAY!!) with time to blog (FINALLY!). I have my final DT project for May for M2A I can finally share - it's a little 4 x 4 inch canvas I did of my son. I originally made it for my desk, but I am now considering adding it to a page with a larger photo to go with it...hmmmm.... will post pics if I decide to go that way.
I took this photo of my son climbing up a ladder towards me whilst I stood at the top of a platform...I loved the effect!
I coated the canvas roughly with an olive coloured acrylic paint, ripped up an old book for the background paper, and pulled a piece of gauze to shreds to lay over the top of the paper. I mounted the photo (which I attacked with an edge distresser and brown distress ink) onto a chipboard square that I had painted around the edge with tim holtz picket fence distress crackle paint. I tucked an olive green38mm flower in the corner with a chipboard heart (coated with black magic glimmer mist) behind the photo mat before mounting.
Along the bottom of the canvas I have used a basic grey bling it topiary tree, a scrapware vine (coated with tim holtz crackle paint, then random inked with black and brown distress ink), a scrapware house (very maltreated with distress ink, gold embossing ink and distress inks LOL), some My2Angels Explore Loud Messy ribbon (inked with distress ink) and finally a lovely My2Angels large key charm.

Materials used:
misc: 4x4 inch canvas, acrylic paints, gauze, a page from an old book, inks.
I love working with mini canvases, they are so much fun...and you can throw as much or as little on it as you like.

Thanks for stopping by!

Having Fun With Daddy

Wow! It's nearly the end of May already! This year seems to be sliding by rapidly! I have another My 2 Angels DT to share - a layout of my son and husband at AFL Auskick taken last year. They were running around like 5 year olds - both of them - and I took a whole series of shots of them mucking around. This picture represented the day well as they both have a terrific time playing around with the footy. (I can't wait to see how the balance will change when little Mr B is big enough to tackle his daddy to the ground!)
Materials Used:
*ribbons: My2Angels extreme cool ribbon, black ric rac, thin teal and black satin ribbons

The footy boot charms were perfect for this layout, and are were a very pleasant surprise when I dug them out of my parcel - they are a terrific size with excellent detail.

The Rose Moka papers that I used were dead set perfect for the photo and the club colours (teal white and black) so this page really made itself.

I have used the fantastic My2Angels Extreme Cool ribbon , ric rac, and some thin teal satin around the edge of the My2Angels frame in what I call a ribbon explosion effect. I carefully cut the ribbon so you could see the words clearly.

Ohhhh it's raining!!! Snuggle up and stay warm everyone - off to watch the last ever episode of 'Lost" (have to admit to being a little lost in the middle of the show and gave up for a while - but I promised my Hubby I would sit through it with him)....the things we do, hey girls....

May Card Class

Thursday night saw me up to my elbows in embossing powder, ink, crackle and glimmermist, and ripping old books to shreds. Why...? you might ask? I was teaching a card class at SFTH is the answer. I worked the ladies really hard (sorry girls xxx, they did warn you I set a cracking pace LOL) and the results were fantastic!! 4 cards from 2 sketches in 2 1/2 hours... Everyone left with 4 new cards, a big exhausted smile, and I bet they all slept very well that night!! Now that the class is done, I can reveal the cards that I had placed a sneak of earlier.

Off to design my next set of sketches and cards for June....thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely comments- they keep a smile on my face all day long...stay warm and stay well.

Eeekkkk Book Week AND a class with Becky Fleck!!

Well bloggers, what a week! On Saturday I was fortunate enough to spend a whole complete day scrapping with my bestie gal pal Wendy at Lake Karrinyup Function Centre attending a DAY with Becky Fleck of Page Maps fame. It was incredible. Becky was soooo gorgeous and gracious, such an amazingly great lady in person. I will post pics soon of the wonderful projects we did (got a tweak or two to do LOL)...but one thing that really touched me was how she included in every kit (and there were 80 of us!) some of her own special  personal treasures - buttons from her Grandma's button jar, and muslin from her own Hope Chest - so that we can remember her and cherish our creations. Gosh she was soooo lovely - have I said that yet...?

I also have a DT page or two to share (yep...this is gonna be a loooooong post so grab a coffee....)

Firstly, EEEEKKK Book Week...

Book Week 2008...

and my darling gorgeous little precious baby son, my little sweet 5 yr old, wanted to dress up like a spider. Yep. A spider. And not just any spider - a redback spider. And yes, I had to design him a costume. He was sooo interested in bugs and spiders and anything that crawled (although heaven forbid if one of these creepies had the audacity to crawl near him!!!!)

For this layout I have used a great Rusty Pickle paper (Eight legged Web), and I hand-stitched cream wool over the top of the web designs to really make them stand out. I stitched these great little spider charms on the webs - and gosh they look so real when you get them out of the packet - ewwww! (LOL!).
Materials Used:
Rusty Pickle Paper - Eight Legged Web (Costume Party Range)
Jenni Bowlin Studio - Chalkboard Alpha Vintage
My 2 Angels design ribbon - Explore Messy Loud Rough and Tumble 100% Boy ribbon
misc cardboard (I used an old pizza box), wool, needle.

AND Girls of a Feather...

Our Challenge this month was to use the wonderful ribbons from the My 2 Angels collection, and I was so excited when my bundle arrived. I loved the pink girls ribbon but my girls are not in the pinky pastel frame of mind lately. I really wanted to use this ribbon on this paper so I altered it.

MATERIALS USED
Papers: Rose Moka Graffiti paper
miscellaneous items: inks, calico fabric

I have a card class I am teaching tomorrow night at Scrapbooks from The Heart so I will also be back on in a few days to share those with you too.....and my Becky Fleck pages....and my photos of the Becky Class too....whew!
Thanks for stopping by and getting this far into this epic post....hugs and hugs again

My Little Artists

Happy Mothers Day to all you lovelies out there with flesh kids and fur kids (can't forget you Kaye & Clare - Hugs x)... I have had such a lovely mothers day...up at 7am to go to Auskick with young Master B (where I WON the mother's day raffle !!!! Thanks COUGARS!!!) , then home to hugs, cuppas, homemade shortbread and wonderful gifts. Out to lunch with Sam's Mum, sister and family (ahhh Paradiso...yum!) and home to a relaxing, bubbly spa bath with my Jessie Bear. Truly blissful. My best, BEST presents were these gorgeous cards from each of my children. Sam and I went to the footy yesterday (go you EAGLES!!! Wooooo hoooo we won!!) and while we were out, the children made these for me to surprise me (even though they had done the usual Mother's Day cards from school).

This is Little Master B's...he is seven and he drew the pictures then cut them out and glued them down....and he did the dot writing all by himself xxx

This is Miss Jessie Bear's (although she is now 11 and may object to me calling her that!!!). She chose blue as it is my favourite colour, and die cut and put together the sizzix teddy bear. xxx

This one is from Miss Teen Ash, she is 13 and loves to scrap and make cards too. She used one of my favourite fonts - Quickutz Strawberry - and I love her simple style. xxx

All this creativeness and not a skerrit of mess to give it away - love them to bits. Thank you to my wonderful  (ssshhhh just don't tell him that!!) husband Sam, and my beautiful children for such a nice day just when I needed it most.xxx

Hugs to you all too
